Schoolchildren have learnt the value of saving water after taking part in a campaign competition.

Pupils at Northumberland Park Community School in Trulock Road, Tottenham, joined ten schools from across the capital to take part in H20 Heroes, an initiative designed to get them engaging with their peers and communities to save water.

A total of 234 students aged between 11 and 15 years old developed and implemented their own water saving campaigns for their schools.

The event was organised by Global Action Plan (GAP), an environmental charity that works to help people and businesses make practical changes which create environmental savings.

Managing partner for GAP Andy Deacon said: “Programmes, such as H2O Heroes, are an important tool for schools to educate students on critical world issues like water scarcity and efficiency.

“The project has provided students with a fun and engaging environment to learn in and supported them to develop their wider skills such as presenting, critical thinking, project management and team work.”
