St George is often eclipsed by other patron saints, but on Thursday (April 23) Gravesham and Dartford will unite to remember him, in some of the largest celebrations in England.

Some 1,600 children from 29 local schools are preparing for the parades, with creative arts workshops in the build up to the event.

The celebrations will take place in Gravesham from 10am to 11.30am and in Dartford from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, in each borough’s town centre.

Entertainment will include brass bands, dance troupes, drummers, a town crier, St George in full armour and medieval court jesters, in a celebration set to bring together the diverse communities.
