Vandals have closed parts of a miniature railway in Swanley, after damaging 25 metres of track in a "severe" and "mindless" act.

Full services at the Swanley New Barn Railway, in Swanley park, have been suspended until the weekend after it was targeted on Tuesday at around 7pm.

On the Swanley New Barn Railway website, a statement said: "Due to severe act of vandalism, we will be unable to run a full service until this weekend at the earliest.

"Over 25 metres of the brand new track that our volunteers spent many hours this winter laying has been damaged at around 7pm on Tuesday 7th April, and will require many hours of work to make it useable again.

"We will of course do our best to run as many trains as possible but ask for your patience as our capacity is now severely limited by this mindless act."
