Commuters at Wimbledon this morning were told that Thameslink services to Waterloo were cancelled.

Trains to Sutton via St Helier were meant to be running but the 8.04am train to Sutton listed on the electronic notice board did not turn up. A station announcer said the trains would arrive at 8.13am.

A later 8.32am to Sutton had already been cancelled.

Passengers heading to Luton were being told to find alternative routes.

Updated: Thameslink said this morning it was pumping 28,000 litres of water an hour with an estimated 250,000 litres to move. A picture tweeted below showed the depth of water removed since 11.25am
