A curious kitten had a lucky escape when he got trapped behind a wall and Kingston firefighters had to cut him free.
Four month-old Vasia became wedged between a brick wall and a fire escape over his home in Coombe Road.
Firefighters and RSPCA officers took two hours to rescue to free the terrified moggie and had to cut a large hole in the wall of the flat.
RSPCA Officer Peter Yarde said: “Poor little Vasia was completely wedged in this tiny space.
“He could not move forwards or backwards and there was no way he would ever have been able to get himself out without help.
“The fire service was absolutely brilliant. They really went above and beyond to save this little fella who was just absolutely terrified. I don’t think I’ve ever felt a heart race so fast.

Vasia was extremely shaken after the event but given a completely clean bill of health by a vet.
Vasia's owner Marina Sevciuk said: “I didn’t know what to do with myself when he was up there. I had no idea how to get him out and it was really frightening.
“It is such a relief to have him home again with us for Christmas as he’s part of our family.
“He was in shock at first but he seems fine now - almost as if it didn’t happen.”
