A 23-year-old man has been charged with raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl, in an attack which has ramped up park safety fear among horrified parents.

Daniel Elliot is accused of carrying out the attack in the playground of Grove Park in Carshalton at 8.30pm on Saturday, November 15.

A 17-year-old boy is said to have been with the girl at the time.

Elliot, who will appear in Croydon Magistrates’ Court today, has also been charged with a second rape, and a sexual attack in Wallington.

The second rape charge is for an attack on a 16-year-old girl in Beddington Park on September 5 this year.

Elliot, from Rosewell Close, Anerley, faces a third charge for sexually attacking a woman in her 20s in Mellowes Park, Wallington on August 3 this year.

The Met Police have not provided any other details about the two attacks and they had not been made public before now.

The charges today follow an earlier arrest of another man.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday, November 17, and bailed to return in mid-December.

The rape has sent shockwaves across the borough, with the Sutton Street Pastors promising to step up patrols in Carshalton, after numerous parents raised concerns.
