Among the many radical plans to transform Kingston town centre, one of the most surprising has been the suggestion the station could be moved closer to the river.

Molly O’Shea asked train passengers for their thoughts on the idea.

Alan Gregson, 75, Kingston: ”I like it where it is. It’s more central. It’d be too remote out there. It’d be too much expenditure to move the station.”

Amanda Jarvis, Kingston: ”I think it should stay where it is. It’s central here. If they start moving it around it’s going to cause chaos.”

Amber Garvin, 36, Sunbury: ”It’s crazy. It’s in such a central location. We’ve come shopping and we’re in the centre. It’s in the hub – so close to shops.”

David Lawson, 68, Kingston: ”It’s a rubbish idea. They’ve got a station here and one at Hampton Wick so why do they want to move it?”

Ewen Bray, 35, St. Ann’s Hill: ”It’s going to make it further for people shopping. The idea for a public service is to make it as convenient as possible.”

Arifa Khan, 36, Croydon: ”It depends upon the convenience for people living and working here. I don’t think it’s a good idea to move it.”
