Firework lovers in Merton will be spoilt for choice over the next week, with a major event on Saturday and another one on Wednesday, November 5.

Tomorrow's council-organised event is in Morden Park with thousands expected to attend and enjoy its twin themes and shows, Ice and Magic for young audiences and Salute to Services for the second display.

Then on Wednesday there will be a similar show by the council team in Wimbledon Park.

There are also several other events in the borough including one at King's College which has a battle of the bands, see below.

Activities at both the council fireworks events will include fairground rides, stalls and refreshments until 10pm.

Merton Council’s cabinet member for community and culture, Councillor Nick Draper, said: "Merton’s fireworks and bonfire nights are magical.

"I love to feel the ground shake, the music swell, the sky burst into a million sparks.

The order of events at both council events is: 5.15pm - Gates open.

First Performance 6.30pm – Bonfire lit.

6.45pm - Fireworks display. Ice and Magic theme, more suitable for young children.

Second performance 8.15pm - Bonfire lit 8.30pm - Fireworks display. Salute to Services theme Tickets can be bought online at the Merton Council website for the November 5 event at a discount. Adult tickets for £8, youngsters aged 5-16 cost £6 and a family ticket is £25 for two adults and two children. Under 4s are free.

On the gate tickets will cost £10 for adults, £8 for youngsters ages 5-16 and no family tickets will be available. There is no parking at either event.

* Merton Park Primary PTA is holding a bonfire and fireworks at Church Lane field in Church Path in Merton Park on Saturday, November 8.

This is its biggest fundraiser of the year and is not only a much loved school event but also an important community event.

It raises significant amounts of money every year for the school, funding resources to provide a wider and richer experience for the children.

Gates open 5.30pm, there is a bonfire at 6pm fireworks at 6.30pm.

£6.30 adults

£3.50 children.

Free for under 3s.

BBQ and refreshments

* King's College School in Southside, Wimbledon Village is also holding an event on Saturday, November 8, which includes a battle of the bands, childrens entertainment, music from the King's band, a tuck shop, Krispy Kremes, bar, BBQ and pasteries from Caffe e Cucina Moka.

The Sleeps Tickets cost £17 for adults, £15 for 14-18 years, £10 for 4-13 years and £4 for under fours. This includes a BBQ meal. 

Box office is open Monday-Friday from 10.30am-2.30pm during term time and is closed during half term.

No tickets are available on the night.
