What do you think Kingston Council should spend its time and money on?

A new survey that launches today is designed to find out, and will be sent to every household in the borough.

The All In One survey was one of the Tories' election pledges ahead of their victory in May.

A high profile ad campaign has been featured on buses, newsletters and the Surrey Comet in the lead up to the launch.

Council leader Kevin Davis said: "These are challenging times for local government finances - our budget is tight just like those of many households.

"We have some difficult choices in the years ahead.

"Therefore it’s more important than ever that we are clear about the priorities of local people.

"The All in One survey is an opportunity for residents to tell us what’s important to them."

Coun Davis admitted he did not how much the project would cost taxpayers, but promised to find out.

He added "We are also keen to hear from people who don’t live in the borough but have a close connection to it - perhaps they work or study here.

"I would encourage those who aren’t residents to complete the survey online."

Opposition leader Liz Green said: "There has been a lot of hype about it.

"It hasn't come through any committee, to my knowledge, so we don't know what the cost of it is.

"I'm just worried what they're going to get out of it for the cost. It's expensive sending something out to everyone."

Kingston Labour chairman Laurie South said: "I think it's good to hear people's opinions. It's a useful thing to do.

"As somebody who has undertaken quite a lot of research in the past, the classic issue is: what are the questions like?

"If the questions are biased and twisted then it's a total waste of money."

Council officers estimate the survey will take 15 minutes to fill out, and will guide service provision for the next three years.

Extra copies of the survey will be available in libraries.
