Ska legend Neville Staple will play Kingston tonight in a gig dubbed Long Live Kingston Carnival.
The Original Rudeboy was due to headline the carnival in its 15th year before it was cancelled by Kingston Council and the police amid safety concerns about the number of people who would show up.
Instead he will perform a one hour set at Banquet Record’s New Slang night at McClusky’s from 10.30pm tonight.
The evening will include a procession around the club, face painting, a jerk chicken stall and Brazilian drummers.
Kingston Carnival founder John Azah will also address the crowd.
Party-goers have been given free entry into the event if they sign the Save Kingston Carnival petition.
Send us your pictures of the night and your thoughts about the cancellation of the carnival to @surreycomet
