Superintendent Rob Atkin, the deputy borough commander for Croydon, said the rallies had largely passed peacefully.

He said: "Locally the demonstration was policed well and there was minimal trouble and disruption.

"Police and the local authority undertook a significant amount of community engagement with the local community before and during the protest.

"Feedback from the community in respect of how the protest was policed including communication and engagement with residents has been overwhelmingly positive."

Around 40 EVF supporters and over 100 anti-fascism and trade unionists attended the rallies.
