A 20-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in Teddington.

Police arrested the man last night, following the death of a 20-year-old, who collapsed in Field Lane and died after being taken to hospital at 12.30am on Sunday, November 11.

Police believe they know the identity of the victim, who is from Twickenham, but are waiting for formal identification before releasing his name.

A post-mortem examination took place at Kingston Hospital mortuary yesterday and confirmed cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault on Sunday and were taken to a west London police station.

A third man, a 21-year-old, was later arrested at a Richmond address.

All three have been released on bail and are due to return in mid-December pending further inquiries.

Police have linked the murder investigation to an earlier incident outside the Royal Oak pub, in Teddington High Street, at 9.50pm on Saturday, November 10.

Residents said they watched from their houses as noise from a group of about 40 people drinking in the pub got louder and escalated into a fight in the high street, with people smashing glass and throwing punches.

Two men were taken to hospital after the fight outside the pub.
One remains in a serious but stable condition and the other suffered minor injuries and was discharged from hospital.

There have been no arrests in connection with the incident outside the pub at this stage.

Witnesses to either incident, or anyone who might have information, are asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4155 or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
