What happened?

In the morning rush hour of July 7, three bombs explode on the London Tube network within a minute of each other.

08.50am Liverpool Street: 100 yards from the platform, the third carriage of the Moorgate to Liverpool Street train is blown apart by about 10lbs of explosive. Seven killed, ten injured.

Russell Square: The first carriage of the train from King's Cross is shattered by a bomb planted in the standing area beside the first set of doors. At least 25 killed and scores injured. Another two victims die later in hospital.

Edgware Road: Again 100 yards into the tunnel, the second carriage is targeted, the bomb smashing through the tunnel wall and hitting another train standing at an adjacent platform. Seven people are killed. An eighth victim dies later in hospital.

09.47am Tavistock Square: The No. 30 bus is blown apart by a bomb either on the floor or on a seat of the upper deck. 13 people are killed, another dies a week later in hospital.

11.52am: London's hospitals are declared full and taking only emergency cases.
