BROMLEY: Three rescued from warehouse fire
Firefighters tackle the fire in Glebe Way
Firefighters tackle the fire in Glebe Way

Three people had to be rescued from a flat when flames spread from a warehouse fire in West Wickham.

Six fire engines and 30 firefighters were needed to tackle the fire which started in a furniture warehouse in Glebe Way at 4.10pm yesterday.

Three people living in a flat above the warehouse had to be led to safety by firefighters.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

A semi-detached house next door to the warehouse was also damaged by the fire after flames spread to the ground floor.

Fire destroyed 20 per cent of the ground floor of the warehouse and ten percent of the neighbouring house.

Firefighters from Beckenham, Bromley, Forest Hill and Addington took one and a half hours to bring the flames under control.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
