Bexleyheath's town centre faces major disruption from today as EDF Energy begins work on laying new high-voltage electricity cables.
The installation of 850m of cable is expected to take 10 weeks.
The roads affected will be Broadway, Lion Road, Abbey Road, Ethronvi Road and Pickford Road.
There will be a series of road closures and diversions during the work.
Temporary traffic lights will be installed between Lion Road and Abbey Road, while trenches are dug in the Broadway.
Some residents' parking bays will also be suspended.

One team of workers will start in Lion Road, working towards Ethronvi Road and a second team will start in Ethronvi Road working towards Avenue Road.
EDF says laying duct lines before the cables will enable its engineers to work in shorter trenches, left open for less time, to minimise the disruption.
