Cancer patient furious over given 50 minutes notice that vital operation cancelled
A Surbiton cancer patient has branded the management at Kingston Hospital a "disgrace" after being given just 50 minutes notice that her vital operation would be cancelled.
Eileen Price, of Claremont Road, was due to be admitted for a private operation in the hospital's Coombe Ward to remove a cancerous lump from her breast on April 16 at 10am.
But at 9.10am, she was called and told the operation had been cancelled due to staffing problems.

"I understand it is not the surgeon's fault - where is the management in Kingston Hospital that they haven't got trained staff on standby for the operating theatres in case of illness?" she said.
Mrs Price said she chose to pay £3,000 for the private operation, which has been booked since February 15, because she was concerned about MRSA.
"I've been knocked sideways - the management is an absolute disgrace," she said.
A Kingston Hospital spokeswoman said the trust "sincerely apologised" for the distress caused to Mrs Price stating that the error was due to the operation being booked in at a time when a "key member of the operating staff was unavailable".
Mrs Price, who refuses to return to Kingston Hospital, has scheduled another operation at the New Victoria Hospital tomorrow.
