A GANG of men gatecrashed a private party and used baseball bats and golf clubs to smash up the house where it was being held.

The attack happened at a house in Manor Road, London Colney, on Saturday night.

At about 10pm a group of about ten men gathered outside the house and a man who was holding the party went outside and had a short conversation with them.

The group became verbally abusive to him so he went back into the house.

About half an hour later the men came back armed with weapons including baseball bats and golf clubs.

They damaged the outside of the house before breaking in and chasing the people inside into the back garden.

They then smashed up the inside of the house and damaged cars parked in the front driveway before running off.

DS Jason Finnegan, investigating the incident, said: "This was an absolutely terrifying, unprovoked attack which has vandalised the victim's home and left the occupants sadly traumatised.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who may have any information about the offenders.

"Your call will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

"At this stage we are treating this as an isolated incident."

The men are described as between 18 and 25 years old and were all wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods up.

One is described as Turkish in appearance, about 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build and with a very thin face, wearing square glasses with thin metal frames.

Anyone with information should contact DS Finnegan on 01727 796066, or telephone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
