Barnet midfielder Jason Puncheon has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a woman in Croydon earlier this year.
The 20-year-old was arrested on Saturday afternoon in the Barnet area by police officers who questioned him about the robbery of a 48-year-old woman in Lodge Lane, Croydon, on June 6.
It is believed the victim was approached from behind and her handbag was stolen.
Croydon-born Mr Puncheon missed Barnet's 3-3 draw with his former club Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday, the day of his arrest, because of suspension after he was sent off against Bury last month.
Police have confirmed a 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Lodge Lane robbery investigation.
He was bailed to return to a London police station at a later date pending further inquiries by South Norwood Robbery Squad.
A Barnet spokesman said Mr Puncheon was helping police with their enquiries.
