A PAIR of robberies on successive days in Wanstead may have been carried out by the same men, police believe.

In the first attack a 20-year-old man was walking along Wanstead High Street at 9.45pm on Thursday, July 27, when he noticed a silver-coloured car driving slowly next to him.

The passenger in the front seat asked him directions but, when the man ignored him, the car stopped and two men jumped out, one carrying an iron bar in his hand.

He demanded the man hand over his £200 mobile phone.

When he did the pair jumped back in the car and drove off towards Hermon Hill.

The following afternoon at 5.20pm an 18-year-old man was walking towards The Green when he saw two men approaching him.

One pushed him with his hand, stopping him from walking, and said: "What have you got for me?"

The man pushed his attacker's hand out of the way and carried on walking but was told: "Stop or we'll stab you."

He managed to get to a friend's house in Felstead Road where he dialled 999 while the two men stood outside watching the house. When the man re-emerged the two men jumped into a silver hatchback and drove off in the direction of The Green.

In both cases the attackers are thought to be about 19-years-old and Asian. On each occasion one was wearing a bandana around his face.
