THREE attackers who set upon a 14-year-old girl in the Exchange Mall in Ilford are being hunted by the police.

The girl had just walked into the shopping centre at 3.40pm on March 28, when a girl came up to her and asked her for a cigarette.

The girl followed her up the escalator and started going through her pockets, threatening her, and asked her if she had a mobile phone or any money.

Between the Mall's two Marks and Spencer shops, the attacker punched the girl in the face causing reddening and bruising. A second attacker tried unsuccessfully to punch the girl. Someone then threw her to the ground and the three girls ran away with her bag.

The first girl is described as around 14 years old, 5ft 4ins tall, black, wearing a light top, different coloured contact lenses in each eye, and a black pony tail.

The second girl is thought to be black and around 15 years old, but there is no description of the third girl.

Anyone with any information should call PC Simon McKenzie in the robbery squad of Ilford police on 8345 2667.
