The Westmorland Gazette's website www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk has won a top award in London.
It was named website of the year at the Newsquest Media Group Newspaper Sales and Editorial Awards 2006.
Judge Patrick Astill, publisher of Holdthefrontpage, said: "This is a beautifully formed website aimed at a diverse and dispersed audience.
"Editorial staff at the newspaper have ownership for uploading their own material and there are web-specific projects away from the news which are overseen by the Web Editor.
"The result is that the site caters for multiple audiences across the readership and with cross-promotion between different media and a recent redesign, this website pushed all the right buttons."
The Westmorland Gazette was highly commended in the Paid-for Weekly Newspaper of the Year category at the awards, at the RSA off The Strand.
Newsquest is England's largest regional newspaper group with more than 300 titles.
Editor/Publisher Mike Glover said: "This was a great double for the team."
