FRIGHTENED people living in High Wycombe have said enough is enough after a spree of violent crimes.

Within eight days the town has seen two shootings and one stabbing disrupt the normal peaceful lives of residents.

The drive-by shooting in Castlefield on Saturday night which saw a man taken to hospital followed a gruesome stabbing not far away in Green Street in broad daylight last Tuesday afternoon.

And last Saturday young schoolgirl Chelsea Mallott was shot with a BB gun while she walked with a group of friends through St Mary Street, near the Wycombe Swan theatre, in another drive-by shooting that left her shocked and her face bruised.

Now people in the town are calling on the police to do more to prevent these crimes happening.

Arshed Shah, 45, a taxi driver from Sharrow Vale, said: "The problem is that youngsters do not have enough things to do.

"In the Asian community our sons are not interested in our culture and some of them cause trouble.

"There are lots of youths who their parents say are out of control."

Nasser Ahmed, 33, who runs a travel agency in Dashwood Avenue, said more and more crimes seem to be happening on the streets.

He said: "You do hear about lots of things while working in High Wycombe but not many that are as serious as these incidents.

"It does make you worry a bit because these things are happening around us."

Raja Khan, 47, owner of a car repair business from Cock Lane, believes many of the violent crimes that have hit our streets in the past have been drug-related.

Speaking in general, he said: "The youths running around causing trouble are all interested in drugs.

"That is the cause of the trouble. They will do anything and it is time they were stopped."
