MORE than 100 young Army cadets from the Lancaster area took to the hill for a basic training and testing weekend at Warcop Camp in Cumbria.
Around 40 new rec-ruits were put through their paces in activities such as map and compass use, drill and fieldcraft.
They are seen, above, being briefed before being sent out into the field on exercise.
And after a day and a half of solid training, the youngsters were returned to Lancaster TA Centre for Training Officer Cpt Alan Smith to hand out cap badges to each cadet and special prizes to top-rated youngsters.
Anna Worthington Bramhall, from Hornby detachment, earned a special trophy for showing most improvement in her skills over the weekend.
And teenager Stacey Eccles from Heysham was named as best recruit for her hard work and motivation.
