A COUPLE visiting relatives in Woodford Green were robbed of items worth nearly £3,000 as they parked their car in Hawthorns.

The 52-year-old driver was looking in the boot when two men walked up to him and demanded the keys to his car.

As he looked round one of the men punched him in the face.

The victim punched the attacker back but he saw that the other man had gone over to his wife.

He was punched again and lost his balance, falling to the ground with a bloody lip.

The second attacker grabbed his wife's handbag before both men ran off, chased by their victim and a relative.

They lost sight of the pair but they were seen getting into a silver Audi A3.

The men got away with a Dior handbag worth £300, an iPod PDA worth £380, £110 cash, and a Cartier watch worth £2,000.

Both men are said to be around 5ft 8ins tall and black.

One was about 22-years-old and wearing what was described as a hat that looked like a beret with a small peak made of a shiny black material.

He was also wearing grey or blue trousers of a shiny material, and black fingerless gloves.

The other was around 24 or 25-years-old, stockily-built with short black Afro style hair and a black hooded coat.
