ROBBERS stole £7,000 of jewellery from a woman as she walked home with her four-month-old baby in Mortlake last week.

The 29-year-old housewife was walking home to Ashleigh Road with her baby in a pram when she passed two youths on a motorbike on October 10 at 5.45pm.

As she put the key in the lock of her front door, one of the youths put his hands over her mouth while the other grabbed her hands and held them behind her back. The first youth said 'Don't make any fuss and we won't hurt you.' The second youth then tried to take off her jewellery but seemed to be struggling, so the victim decided that for her safety she would take it off for him.

Their haul included a watch and three rings.

They then let her go, stole her handbag and jumped onto their motorbike, driving off towards Mortlake High Street.

The first youth was an 18-year-old black male, of slim build, wearing a dark, possibly grey hooded top and dark coloured jeans. He spoke with an English accent.

The second robber was an 18-year-old white male. If you can help call PC Kathy Fenwick on 8247 7042 or email kathryn.fenwick@met.police.uk
