A TERRIFIED 11-year-old girl woke up to find a burglar in her bedroom. And although her brave dad chased and managed to trap the burglar in a porch, he smashed a window and escaped.

The child was asleep in bed in her home in Rayton Drive, Hayes, at around 2.15am on Sunday, October 2, when she woke to find a man in her room putting on a pair of gloves.

The girl screamed and her father ran out of his bedroom, finding the burglar on the landing.

The man started to run and the brave dad chased him downstairs and through the house. The 40-year-old dad trapped the burglar inside the house porch by shutting the door on him, but the man panicked and smashed his way out empty handed.

Police, using sniffer dogs, managed to track the man to Lansbury Drive at the junction with Woodrow Avenue, but the dogs lost the scent.

The man is described as black, around 20 years old, and around 5ft 10 inches tall.

He was wearing a dark blue or black jacket with white sleeves, black trousers and cap, and white gloves.

Police believe the man got into the house by forcing a window before going upstairs in the house.
