A BURGLAR threatened a woman with a knife as she tried to enter her home in Barnes.

The incident happened in Lyric Road, Barnes on Saturday September 10 after the woman had left the house to pick up her son from Elm Road.

She locked the property and walked to collect him but on her return as she put her key into the lock of her front door a man approached from behind with Swiss army knife and said: "Stay there I'm going in".

The woman and her son stood back and let him pass and watched as he went into the front room.

Ten minutes later when she could no longer see the burglar the woman entered the house and discovered he had left via the French doors at the rear of the property.

Three laptops, a mobile phone and cash were taken from the property to the value of £2,800.

The man was described as black, 25 years old and 5ft10 with a round face and wide nose. He was wearing a black jacket, dark jeans and white trainers and spoke with a local accent using a lot of slang.
