A FEMALE Midweek reporter had abuse shouted at her after she attempted to talk to regulars at one of the UK's so-called "toughest pubs".

Michelle Fleming, 26, was then thrown out of the White Horse, in West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, by its owner.

The reporter said: "There was a show on Sky which said the White Horse was one of the toughest pubs in Britain.

"I asked a member of staff if I could come down to speak to the regulars. He agreed, but we didn't organise a specific time.

"The owner was in the bar when I arrived and he spotted me with my notebook. He hurled abuse at me and ordered me to leave the pub. His language is not something which could be repeated in this newspaper. I was really taken aback.

"I often go the White Horse for a few drinks and never had any trouble. Paul, the manager, is always friendly."

Manager Paul Bennett, who was not in the pub at the time, had earlier told Midweek how business was booming in the pub after it was branded one of the toughest pubs in Britain last week.

Commenting on the reporter being thrown out, he said: "It's all getting silly now it was filmed last year.

"It was obviously a breakdown in communication between the pub and the paper."

Paul told Midweek how curious boozers were flocking to the pub, renowned for its stripper shows, to see what all the fuss is about after it was featured in "Britain's Toughest Pubs".

Paul added: "We're a lot busier since they all want to to visit the pub and see for themselves.

"The pub's not tough in the violent sense but tough to run. You've got all sorts all coming together here, punks and skinheads and metallers."
