HARINGEY: Council hopes to save £46k by going green
New energy efficiency technology that could save more than £46,000 annually and cut harmful greenhouse gas emissions is being introduced by Haringey Council.
The measures being implemented include a voltage optimisation system which cuts the amount of energy being used by regulating the voltage levels into a building.
The new system should cut CO2 emissions by 268 tons annually and reduce council energy costs by an estimated £46,500 a year.
It is currently being installed at the council's Wood Green headquarters offices, River Park House, Alexandra House and 48 Station Road, and in Wood Green central library.
Councillor Charles Adje, cabinet member for resources, said: "Haringey aims to be one of the greenest boroughs in London. That means taking a lead on our own use of energy.
"This is proven technology which reduces harmful emissions. It has the added benefit for taxpayers of cutting our electricity bills."
