GRAVESHAM: Garden society to nurture keen youngsters

An allotment group is to give gardening help to schools.

The Gravesham Borough Allotment and Garden Society launched a scheme for primary schools in Gravesham.

It asked youngsters asked to design its new logo.

Bethany Smith, 10, from Northfleet, created the winning logo and won a children's gardening set for her efforts.

Gravesham Council recently told the society the land it uses next to Northfleet Cemetery is to be sold to developers.

The society campaigned against the sale but could not prevent a decision to sell the land.

Chairman Damon Trott, 37, said: "I am excited, following the recent events of the Northfleet Cemetery allotments, something positive is happening about the future of gardening in the borough."

For more details, call Mr Trott on 07779 603673 or email damon@gbags.org
