BUCKS: Recycling centre appeals for Christmas foil

Recycling centres have asked people to save as much clean aluminium foil as they can during the festive period for recycling.

Aylesbury Recycle and Reuse Centre works with adults with learning disabilities to will sort and compact the aluminium before it is sold on to be recycled.

All funds raised through the recycling of foil will be put back towards the group.

Foil, used for takeaway and ready meal containers, mince pie cases and wrapping material, can be recycled as long as it is clean and made from aluminium.

People can used a ‘scrunch’ test can check if the foil is the correct type.

If the material springs back after being ‘scrunched’ then it cannot be recycled, as it is probably made from plastic.

Recycling foil saves more than 95 per cent of the energy used to make it from raw materials, and there is no loss of quality to the end product.

Recycling banks for the scheme in High Wycombe can be found at car parks at Morrisons, Asda, the council offices in Easton Street, Terriers cross roads, and Cock Lane.

There are also facilities at Tesco in Loudwater, Wakemans Road in Bourne End, Plant and Harvest Garden Centre in Chorley Road, West Wycombe, and Park Parade and Beaumont Way in Hazlemere.

In Marlow recyclers can go to car parks in Riley Road, Liston Road and Court Garden.
