Cycle networks across the Bromley borough have been boosted by government funding of £539,500.
The money will be spent on cycle training and improving and extending cycle paths across the borough including Southborough Lane in Bromley.
The cash was awarded to Bromley Council in Transport for London’s (TfL) latest round of funding.
On top of the cycle path funding, the 2009/10 grant, totalling more than £3.9million, will also benefit Bromley Council’s School Travel Plans which encourage youngsters to walk or cycle safely to school.
A report into the list of schemes set to benefit from the money states the total grant is 21 per cent less than the funding received from TfL for the current financial year.
It compares with an average London-wide increase in funding of more than 4 per cent.
Council chiefs are expected to approve the programme of improvements on December 15.
