GREENWICH: Children learn more about trees at an ecology park

Children of all ages enjoyed learning about the importance of trees at a park’s winter open day.
Conservation group the Trust for Urban Ecology ran the free event at the Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park, in John Harrison Way, Greenwich, on December 7.
About 150 children attended the event and learnt more about trees by making a tree out of paper which they dressed with pictures of wildlife.
A treasure hunt around the park also kept children busy while adults enjoyed mulled wine and a barbecue.
Senior warden at the park Joanne Smith said: “The day was a celebration of trees and was to encourage people to come and see the park in the winter.
“The four and a half acre park is very beautiful in the winter when you can see many different types of wildlife, including birds, more easily than in the summer.”
