Harrow plans for waste disposal

A public meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the way waste is disposed in Harrow for the next 15 years.
The borough is considering joining forces with Brent, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond Councils to come up with a joint plan for getting rid of household and industrial waste.
The boroughs will share facilities, and have a coordinated plan for how waste is disposed of across west London.
The aim is to help the boroughs meet national waste disposal targets, and increase the amount of recycling and composting which is done.
Tomorrow's meeting, at Harrow Civic Centre between 6pm and 8.30pm, is open to all, and is intended to raise awareness of the waste disposal plans and get residents' views.
A separate meeting will soon be held for landowners as a way of identifying future waste disposal facility sites.
The councils hope to have a full plan in place by October 2010.
