RICHMOND: The right moves for Twickenham school
A group of students proved they had all the right moves on the chess board when they were crowned champions at a national event.
Twickenham Preparatory School U11 team clinched the winning spot in the Independent Association of Prep Schools 2008 National Prep School Chess Championship last month.
They also came equal second in the U13 championship. There were strong individual performances as well, including an individual U11 first for Harvey Kandohla.
Headmaster David Malam said: "I am very proud of the pupils winning this prestigious national event.
"They put a lot of effort into practising and deserved their win, defeating some of the largest and strongest independent chess-playing schools in the country."
