CROYDON: Forty schools to close for teachers strikes
Schools across Croydon will be closed on Thursday because of national strikes over pay.
Members of the National Union of Teachers will be protesting at the Government's decision to increase wages to below the rate of inflation.
The strikes are expected to hit 40 schools in Croydon after teachers have claimed that the poor rate of pay is affecting chances to recruit more staff and morale is at rock bottom.
A total of 36 primary schools and four secondary schools will be affected.
