Sixth form and college students in Epsom, Ewell, Banstead and Leatherhead are celebrating "impressive" A-Level results this morning.

From this morning: Thousands of nervous students collect their results today

All students at Epsom and Ewell High School will be heading to their first or second choice of universities, while no students will be going through the headache of clearing.

16 per cent of students achieved all A*to A grades, while 72 per cent achieved A*to C.

Karen Davies, assistant head teacher, responsible for the sixth form, said: “We are delighted for all the students. For everyone to get their first or second choice and for no one to have to go through clearing is testimony to the hard work of the students and the staff.

“It also made today a wonderful celebration.”

At Ashtead’s City of London Freemen’s School, 83 per cent of students achieved A*to B grades, 55 per cent gained A*to A and 22 per cent attained A* grades.

Roland Martin, who took over as headmaster at the start of the academic year, said he was delighted with the results.

“When you put such impressive academic performances alongside the contributions that these same pupils have made to the sporting, musical, dramatic and social side of the School, you get a picture of genuinely well-rounded young people, which is what a Freemen’s education is about,” he said.

“It is thanks to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, with support from parents, that these students remain ambitious about what they might achieve in and out of the classroom.

“We wish those students now leaving Freemen’s continued success as they continue their academic career and beyond.”
