Three quarters of Bexley kids have been offered a place at their preferred secondary school, although five per cent missed out on any of their top three choices.
Some 2,769 families across the borough were eagerly awaiting the news of which school their 11-year-olds would be heading off to this autumn, yesterday (March 1).
However, some 62 kids - whose applications were handed in late - did not receive an offer.
They will not hear from Bexley Council until the end of March - when their peers have accepted or declined their offers.
TODAY'S TOP STORIES:
Of those who were allocated a space, 76.4 per cent got their first choice, 13.8 per cent their second choice, and 4.8 per cent their third choice.
Across London, just 68 per cent of pupils got their first choice offer.
Bexley parents are asked to apply to up to six schools, and 97.8 per cent of students will be attending one of their preferences.
Cabinet Member for Schools, Councillor John Fuller said: "I am delighted that so many local children have received their first preference.
"Choosing a secondary school is one of the most important family decisions we make for our children.
"We are fortunate that, thanks to our hardworking teachers and school support staff, we have a long list of excellent secondary schools to choose from in Bexley."
