Pupils and staff at Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley held a special ‘topping off’ ceremony yesterday to celebrate the completion of its new building structures.
Having unveiled a brand new canteen earlier this year, the official opening of the school’s state-of-the art sports hall and new three-storey building is fast approaching.
Topping off ceremonies have been held for hundreds of years to celebrate structures reaching their highest point.

As part of the event, year 11 students Paige Scarlett-Pit, 15, Klodi Gashi, 16, and Katherine Marlow, 16, put on full protective gear before making their to the top of the new building to put the finishing touches on the last piece of concrete.
Klodi said: “Today has been really fun, particularly putting on the hi vis jackets and hard hats to build a small section of the building ourselves.
“We can’t wait until we move in and will really make the most of it.”
