A permanent site for the new secondary school, The Beckenham Academy (TBA), has been bought and is now subject to planning permission.

Education trust Education for the 21st Century (E21C), which is opening TBA next September, has purchased land at Balmoral Avenue.

Students enrolling from next year will be housed at Ravensbourne School, along Hayes Lane.

The school is hoped to ease the pressure on schools places in the borough, with the mixed school taking a first intake of 180 Year Seven pupils from next year.

Emily Codling, headteacher for The Beckenham Academy, said: “It’s fantastic news that we can now inform all our students and their parents about the proposed permanent location for our school in Beckenham.

“The deadline for applications for next year’s intake has passed and we’ve been overwhelmed by the number of applicants we’ve had.”
