Here at Hayes Primary School we love maths. We also love cake. That’s why we were very excited about ‘The Great Hayes Maths Bake Off’ this week! Our maths week, which is took place from Monday 22nd-Friday 26th June 2015, centred on how we use maths in our everyday lives, especially when we cook. Classes wre doing all sorts in lessons from ratio, to perimeter and area, and measure.

Outside of class, we had lots of fun things going on such as our ‘design a maths biscuit’ competition, judging of teachers’ cakes by our heatacher and maths quizzes between year groups. Our challenge of the week was the creation of the world’s biggest rice crispy cake, which may even make it into the Guinness Book of World Records! All of the children got involved, mixing toether the ingredients and spooning them into a paddlin-pool. Our week has bee fantastic and we have all learnt that maths is not ony really useful, but fun as well!
