Quizmasters battled it out at a Shortlands school in a national competition designed to boost pupils’ general knowledge.

Bishop Challoner Junior School, on Bromley Road, competed against six other schools from across London and Kent including Farringtons School in Chislehurst.

Organised by Quiz Club, more than 400,000 children in the UK take part in its three age group championships.

Pupils answered multiple choice general knowledge questions covering history, geography, maths, science, art and current affairs.

Year Four Bishop Challoner student Vivienne Vogel said: "I really enjoyed Quiz Club even though I was really nervous at the beginning.

"I’m so pleased that I was selected and I would love to join again next year."
