Waldegrave School Sixth Form’s brightest pupils had the chance to quiz Conservative treasury minister Andrea Leadsom.

The South Northamptonshire MP visited the sixth form alongside Twickenham parliamentary candidate Tania Mathias and the mayor of Richmond Councillor Jane Boulton on Thursday, February 5.

Ms Leadsom answered a range of questions including the restoration of trust in banks to mental health provision for young people.

She said: "One of my particular interests is in the first two years of a child’s life, because the earliest experiences of a baby will have a fundamental impact on their lifelong emotional health."

Dr Mathias, standing in May’s general election, added: "Politics, in a democracy like ours, can be a force for good and it was great to introduce the pupils to women who came into politics from different backgrounds with the aim of improving the lives of everyone.”
