A primary school is hoping to become a world record breaker for the largest book swap.

To coincide with national libraries day on Friday, February 6, hundreds of children at Darell Primary School, Richmond, brought books to school to exchange for another.

Year 1 student Paige Agar said it was hard to choose a book to swap, but could not wait to find a new one.

Emma Claridge, acting deputy headteacher, said: “As we’re nearing the end of an extensive expansion project that, among other things, will give us a brand new library space, this seemed a perfect time to celebrate national libraries day with this book swap.

“It was fabulous to see the children so excited.”
