School pupils will be treated to a range of healthy lunches after new food standards were introduced.
The Government's new scheme, which will give school cooks greater freedom in creating their own menus, was unveiled at Grey Court School on Thursday, January 8.
The new school food standards will also ensure pupils get the fuel they need to help them concentrate inside and outside the classroom.
Maggie Bailey, headteacher at Grey Court School, said: "I have seen first-hand the positive impact of getting the school food service right for our young people.
"By signing up to the new school food standards, we can be confident that our students are receiving tasty, nutritionally balanced food.
"We are committed to the standards - not because of government decree - but because it's the right thing to do for our young people."
School meals will include one of more portions of vegetables each day, an emphasis on wholegrain foods and an emphasis on making water the drink of choice.
