A mathematics teacher who walked 2,500 miles from Hampton to Jerusalem this summer during a six-month sabbatical returns to the classroom this term.
Alasdair McBay, who is also director of studies at Hampton School, began the walk in July and travelled through France, Switzerland and eight more countries before reaching Jerusalem on December 8.
Mr McBay, who slept in a one-man tent unless weather conditions did not allow it, said the best thing about the trip was encountering different cultures, and the only downside were some blisters and an impromptu stop-off at a Swiss dentist.
