A school in Lee has been shortlisted as UK Independent School of the Year.

Colfe’s School, in Horn Park Lane, has been nominated for the prestigious award which is now in it’s fifth year showcasing excellence in the fee-paying sector.

Hundreds of nominations for outstanding schools, departments and individuals were submitted across 12 categories from around the UK. Colfe’s have been working in partnership with Tougher Minds Personal Brain management to improve school performance since 2012 and as a result the school will also appear in the Education Initiative of the Year category.

Director of Studies Andrew Pearson said: “Colfe’s is a progressive and forward-thinking school, and we are honoured to be one of only four independent schools in the country to be nominated in this category for these prestigious awards and especially to now be considered for Independent School of the Year. “Well done to our students who have worked so hard, and credit to our Head of Academic Performance, Mr Foster, who has done so much to drive this innovative Tougher Minds programme forward.”

The awards are organised by the team behind Funding for Independent Schools magazine and consist of 12 categories with winners announced November 13 in Nottingham.
