A new generation of prospective young journalists got to grips with life in a working newsroom this morning (September 24).
Pupils from Tubbenden Primary School’s new newspaper club made the two mile trip to News Shopper’s Mega House to learn first-hand how the news makes it into the paper.
The 11 pupils met Editor Andrew Parkes before getting the scoop on modern day journalism in a fast-paced newsroom from News Editor Dan Keel, as well as practical reporting tips from north Kent and Bexley journalist Fiona Simpson.
Mr Parkes said: “I am really pleased that the pupils of Tubbenden School are setting up their own newspaper club and I wish them luck with it.
“It’s great to have so many happy smiling faces in the office.
“Who knows, there may be a future editor among them.”
