A set of twins from Bexley who faced starting nursery separately have beaten the odds and found a place at the same school.

Mother-of-three, Selma Abbey, aged 32, of Martens Avenue was left devastated when she applied for twins, Ella and Leya, aged three, to join elder sister Ayla, aged five, at Hurst Primary School in Dorchester Avenue - but only Leya's application was successful.

After weeks of deliberation with Bexley Council, Leya was finally offered a place at the nursery on June 4.

The twins started nursery on September 9 and have settled in well.

Mrs Abbey said: "The are loving every second of it - I am so grateful so all the work everybody put in to get them placed together."
