A speech day that attracted 1,600 guests marked the finale of a Cobham school’s bicentenary events.

Reed’s School celebrated its 200th birthday this year and hosted events throughout the year, including enjoying a visit from Her Majesty the Queen.

The speech day saw chairman of governors, Ian Plenderleith, thank David Jarrett, headmaster of Reed’s School, for his 17 years of service before the outgoing headmaster relieved his highlights from his time at the school.

Guest of honour, General the Lord Dannatt, spoke about his life experiences and distributed prizes to winners, while the two school captains gave a votes of thanks to everyone at the school.

During the speeches, the school’s brass choir, jazz orchestra and rock band provided musical interludes.

Marking the end of the speech day, guests enjoyed drinks, a hog roast and strawberries and cream at the headmaster’s reception.
